BadAss Polish Sale Alert!

Hey all!

Gosh I miss blogging!  Life just doesn't allow it right now.  I am in the middle of an 8 days in a row work stretch which actually should be a 10 days in a row stretch but some awful bug has hit my family and we are all getting sick one by one...I was first.  This thing put me out for two days!  I really don't get sick very often and man...it is NOT fair to be sick and be a mom!  It's so hard!  I am pretty much better with the exception of some sniffles and a lingering cough but my poor children have it and as much as I hated being sick...I really wish it was me being sick for them.  Especially Austin, my 1 year old.  He's so little and I can't tell him what is going on.  :(

Moving on to better news, BadAss Polish is having a 10% off sale!  Use code HAPPY2013 in our Etsy Store for the discount from now until January 5th.

I hope once this worth stretch is over and my house gets back to normal I can get on here with a mani at least once a week.  Oh, and if you haven't "liked" our Facebook page yet, go ahead and do that HERE.

Any plans for NYE?  I'm working an 8 hour shift at my regular job and I'm bartending this evening.

Crest 3D Whitestrips Review

Hey there!  I haven't posted on here in what seems like forever!  I've been super busy with launching my new nail polish line.  If you'd like to know more on that, visit our Facebook at HERE or go to our website which is http://badasspolish.com/.  You can get to our Etsy shop from there.  I would love to know your thoughts.  I haven't put any pictures up on my own nails as they are just in rough shape.  If you do visit the FB page, you will see lots of gorgeous pictures from some fellow bloggers that were kind enough to do reviews.

Okay, so onto the whitestrips....I am a member of Influenster which is kind of a place to find and submit reviews of products.  You can occasionally qualify to get a product to review for free which is exactly what happened here.

So what are my thoughts?  I love these things!  I happen to be a coffee drinker and I also drink some soda.  It has been quite a while since I last whitened my teeth so this was perfect timing!  I love how they seal very well around the teeth.  It's really easy to just put them on and not feel like they are going to come off.  They are pretty secure and I'm guessing this is due to the "Advanced SEAL No Slip Technology".  I seriously started seeing results with my teeth getting whiter within like three days.  Now, if I had perfect teeth, I would show you before and after pictures but I have, well...let's just say less than perfect teeth and I'm pretty self conscious about that so I can't bring myself to do that.

I think these bad boys retail for about $40 or so.  That is kind of a hefty price tag but if you only do your whitening maybe once or twice a year, I don't find that to be too awful.  I would guess professional whitening is more than that.

I would definitely purchase these again when I need to whiten again.

Have you tried these or do you have a favorite teeth whitening product you use?

Old Essie Find: Part 2; Hot Commodity

Hello friends!  I am sorry I haven't been posting a lot.  My break that I had....broke AGAIN!  So frustrating.  I am really trying to make a conscious effort to moisturize but I think between dryness and bartending, my nails just aren't handling things well.  The pictures in this post are from a couple of months ago.  Back in September, I had a post about some old Essie's I found and where I featured Essie Priceless.  Today, I will be showing you Hot Commodity which is one of the other ones I picked up at the same time.  This one is just gorgeous and is perfect for this time of year!  It's kind of a deep red jelly but with some silver glass fleck in it.

I'm not sure when I will be posting again.  I looked through my old photos and dug this one up but couldn't find much more that was worth posting.  I might try and use my other hand for swatching, but we will see.  It's harder to take pictures with my non-dominant hand.  I know...such problems!

I hope everyone is enjoying their week!

Late No H8!

I am late with this but a BUNCH of bloggers were sporting purple nails on their blogs yesterday to take a stand against bullying.  Go HERE for more info. It's unfortunate but we here about bullying all the time.  It happens in real life but it seems to happen a bunch in the cyber world as well.  When people are sitting behind a computer screen, it must make them feel big and bad like they can say anything.  I don't know how someone could purposefully make someone feel down but it happens all the time!

So even though I'm a day late, I still felt compelled to join in as I feel this is something that needs to stop.  There is no reason for it.  We've all heard the line...if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all!  There is no reason to go out of one's way to make a person feel bad.  Shall we get onto the mani?

I first started with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Plum Luck.  Then I added Wet n Wild Color Icon in Back Alley Deals.  Unfortunately this was LE but it is a gorgeous one.  I forget to wear these guys!

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Special Announcement!!

Hello my lovely followers!  So I have some news to share with you.  For the past several months, I have been working very hard on starting my own nail polish line.  I have been toying with this idea for quite a long time and working very hard to make it a reality.  I am excited to say, that day has come!

Now, I realize there are a lot of other indie polish makers out there.  I do hope I can offer something unique to nail polish lovers out there though!  One of my biggest inspirations for this, (besides the fact that I am a nail polish addict) has to do with my bartending job.  I like being festive while working on game days.  I always try to pain my nails to coordinate with what game might be on while working.  When painting my nails, I kind of always wished there were more glitter combos to represent sports.  Then I thought, well maybe I could do something like that!  Back before football even started I decided and starting planning for NFL team inspired nail polish.

There have been many bumps in the road along the way but I am getting close to releasing my first polish which is inspired by Dallas Cowboys.  I also hope that shortly after, I will have a Minnesota Vikings and a Green Bay Packers. I've had some snags with those but I'm hoping to get those worked out soon.  For now, the polishes I put out will be in clear base and meant more to be glitter top coats.

I hope to actually have some of the Dallas stuff ready for sale, in what will be my etsy shop, before Thanksgiving but I'm waiting on a very important piece of what I need.

The name of my "brand" will be BadAss Polish.  My husband gets the credit for this one!  He said it, I loved it and never really looked back!  Well...that's not really true.  I loved it, but I was worried that someone might be turned off by the name.  I hope nobody would be.  I ultimately decided this was my brand and I loved the name so I wanted to stick with it.  :)

We do have a Facebook Page so if you'd like to stay up to date, feel free to give us a "like"!   We also have a website which has little info at this time until we have a need to have more info on there.

I will hope to be doing a post with swatches of the first one soon so watch for that!  I am so excited for this new adventure!

Frugal Friday: Cocktail Dress

Well, I had to do it.  I had to file my nails down due to my recent break.  I think between weather and bartending, my nails are having a hard time staying strong.  I am trying to make a conscious effort to moisturize more often and I've been on a mission to drink lots of water.

I have some pictures of manis that I have taken before "the file down" that I may post.  So you may see a variation in nail length but I have a hard time liking my nails this short!  There are many bloggers that have shorter nails, aka "nubs" or "nubbins" and those bloggers rock the heck out of them.  I just feel like it doesn't suit my hand.  I don't every have my nails too long to begin with this length is definitely shorter than I like.

For this Frugal Friday, I have a Maybelline Color Show polish.  The one is from the Sequins collection. I no longer have my receipt but these are about $3 at Walmart.  I am not positive if they are charging more for the  glitters...hopefully not! This particular collection is limited edition so if you like what you see, don't hesitate too long.  I picked up two from this collection and the one I picked for today is called Cocktail Dress.  It has a black base with a mixture of black glitter and slightly larger red glitter.  This polish is a bit of a problem child for me.  I started off using a nail wheel and the formula was just...dry?  Not really sure how to describe it but it just didn't flow well on the nail.  I then added some thinner and it was more workable then.  For the photos below, I used three coats, then a coat of Gelous, then a coat of SV.   I don't like when a glitter is really rough on the nail and this combination usually solves that problem.

Okay...shall we get on to the pictures?!!

Go Pink Wednesday: Final Pink Wednesday!

Ah!  Hello!  I have been MIA...I know!  I actually had a pretty bad break on a few of my nails.  It happened right after I did last week's Go Pink Wednesday!  It's still pretty short but I really wanted to do the last installment of this series.  Oh, and by the way...Happy Halloween!  I'm taking my son trick-or-treating this evening and he can hardly contain himself!  He is going to be Mario, and no I am not dressing up at Luigi! :)

For today's mani, I chose Essie Sure Shot  Its a gorgeous magneta/fuchsia with fine shimmer (still in the pink family, right?!).  This was two coats.  Then I topped with a Spectraflair top coat.  Spectraflair is a holographic pigment.  I snagged a tiny bottle of a frankened top coat off of Copious a while back.  Unfortunately, I didn't have any sun so it was hard to capture the holo in this.

This first picture is kind of crappy but it shows the truest color and you can see a bit of the holo effect, especially on the pointer finger.

This is outdoors but no sunlight.

Even though the month has come to an end, please be sure to take care of yourselves.  Early prevention is key and having a healthy lifestyle and habits now means later on having less problems.  I've really enjoyed taking a part in raising awareness this month!  I hope to get back to blogging soon..I'm just trying to get my nails back in a better state.

Go Pink Wednesday including Special Message

This is the second to last Wednesday in October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Last week, shortly after I posted my last Go Pink Wednesday mani, one of my friends of Facebook, an ex-coworker posted the following.......

Today I was dignosed with breast cancer.
I just turned 34.
I'm told, this is an uncommon diagnosis for someone "as young" as me.

I'm a fairly private person and this is a very personal thing. But I feel it's important to share my experience.
Who knows, maybe it will help someone...

I went in for an annual exam about 2 weeks ago.
Something the nurse felt led to a mammogram (which didn't dete
ct anything) and an ultrasound (that did).
Followed by a biopsy yesterday that tested positive for cancer.

Bad news, Yes.
BUT, there is a bright side (there is ALWAYS a bright side...although sometimes you have to search for it)
Mammograms aren't generally done on women until 40+ (unless there is a history)
And the mammogram I had didn't detect anything. It was the ultrasound.
So I feel very fortunate that although it is cancer, it was actually FOUND and found early.

So not to preach, but take care of yourself....
Go to your annuals and physicals.
It could potentially save your life.

And since this is the kind of thing that will throw you for a loop...
It's a good reminder of how fragile we all are and
how precious and SHORT this life (we're currently in) is:

Be kind......don't hate
Love yourself
Love EVERYONE
Appreciate all you have
Laugh as much as possible
Live as much as possible
Life is short...
We are here for a reason.
Whether we understand it or not
Make the most of it
While you can.

Oh, and for the record, I do hate something (but I feel this is fair):
the words, lump, nodule or any derivitive of them.
Geez :)

What wonderful words that she posted!  So I just want to remind you, to please do your monthly self breast exams, go to the doctor regularly, and take care of yourself!  Early detection is huge!

Today I used Maybelline Color Show Crushed Candy (supposed to be similar to Butter London Disco Biscuit) and for the accent finger I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Strobe Light (dupish for OPI Teenage Dream).

Frugal Friday! Wet n Wild Toxic Apple

Whew!  Friday is here!  Even though I only had a three day work week at my main job it seemed like it took forever.  I am back to bartending too so, no rest for the wicked!

The polish I picked today is Limited Edition but it should be in stores now so if you like it, try to find it.  It is from Wet n Wild's Pick Your Poison collection.  This one is Toxic Apple.  I first saw this when Liesl from Liesl Loves Pretty Things did a guest post over at i Heart Pretty Polish's blog.  Don't you love when bloggers come together?!! :)  Well, when I saw her post, I figured if I came across is I would maybe get it....and that is just what I did.

This polish was $1.99.  It also may possibly be a dupe to OPI Russian Navy.  Dupe or not, I love it!  In the bottle, this looks much more purple.  You can see in the photo that the bottle kind of shows purple but on the nails it's a nice dark blue...perfect for fall!  It is gloomy and rainy here so I wasn't able to take photos outside.

I forgot to clean up a bit of polish on my ring finger...oops!

I thought I would share some of the family pictures we had taken a couple of weeks ago.  I say family but my husband hates getting his picture taken, so we mostly just had pictures taken of our boys but I peaked in just a couple.  Our photographer was amazing!  If you live in the Milwaukee/Waukesha area and are looking for someone, let me know and I can give you here info.

Have a wonderful weekend my lovelies!

Holy Shift! Picture Heavy

Hello my loves!  Today I have for you one of the new Sally Hansen Lustre Shine polishes.  I passed these up several times as I just hated the price tag for what is considered to be a drugstore polish.  But every time I went to the store, I often picked this polish up and then put it back.  I decided to bite the bullet and just buy it and let me tell you, I am glad I did. The one I am speaking of is Lava.  This polish is very unique to my collection.  I also have heard it is similar or dupish (yep, making up my own words!) to MAC Bad Fairy which was LE and hard to find.  There are tons of pictures here so you could see how much shift there is within this polish.  I did have to use 3 thicker coats on this one but I think it is well worth it!  I topped it with Seche Vite.

Have a great day everyone!

Go Pink Wednesday! Glitter Edition!

Well, here I am.  I had four wonderful days off of work.  I am back to work and back to blogging too.  I had some nice time with my husband while the kids stayed with grandma.  We also went to a pumpkin farm on Monday which was fun.  I did just want to quick say that I have been kind of bad about responding to comments on the blog.  I am hoping to get to responding this week.  I know comments don't require a response, but I really enjoy the interaction.

For more information on Go Pink Wednesday for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, check out my Go Pink Wednesday button.

For today, I did something a little different.  I used American Apparel Echo Park and layered Essie A Cut Above with the exception of my ring finger.  I decided to do sort of an inverted accent finger.  I started with China Glaze Something Sweet and layered Essie Set in Stones on that.  This isn't in-your-face pink but I was trying to be more creative...not really my strong point! I do however like how this turned out!

Frugal Friday: Spoiled - The Parking Meteor Expired

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope your week has gone fast!  Mine hasn't but after today I am off for four days in a row.  I usually only have off one day a week but I decided to take some "me time".  The kiddos are going to grandma's tomorrow and staying overnight so my husband and I are going to go out and take advantage of that.  Then on Monday or Tuesday we are hoping to do a pumpkin farm/apple orchard sort of thing with the kids.

Enough of my babbling!  Today my Frugal Friday pick is Spoiled The Parking Meteor Expired.  This is a black base with blue and teal shimmer in it.  I am getting more and more used the the brush on these polishes.  For the pictures below, I used two coats with one coat of Seche Vite.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Go Pink Wednesday: Icing Power to the Pink

Hello my friends.  Here we are, on the second Wednesday in October already!  This is the second installment for Go Pink Wednesdays.  Andrea from Finger Painting Fingers extended an invitation to everyone to sport pink nails to help raise awareness for breast cancer.  You don't have to be a blogger to participate.  Share your pink nails on Finger Painting Fingers Facebook page and/or my Facebook page.

Today the pink polish I chose is from Icing and it is called Power to the Pink.  It is an in-your-face neon with silver irridescent glitter in it.  This was four coats and you can still see some visible nail line.  I really love how bright this is but the polish is a tad hard to work with.  I might add thinner next time I use it as that seems to be a cure-all for many polishes.  I also used two coats of Seche Vite as it was pretty gritty after the first.  I probably should have used a coat of Gelous first and then Seche Vite.  Without top coat, this does dry matte just like any neon.  Also I must confess, I adjusted the brightness in this to get the color accurate.  As I've mentioned before, neons are very hard to photograph and without editing it, it was not even close to accurate color-wise.

Also, I wanted to provide a great link for more info on breast cancer.  This website has great info on how you can help, different programs, FAQs, etc.  http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/

Get out your pink nail polish and lets see some of those pink manis!

Frugal Friday: Sally Hansen Grey Area/Possible Dupe

Welcome to Frugal Friday.  I had a really busy week this week.  The fall colors are at their peak around here and it is gorgeous!  I am really excited as I had my boys pictures taken this week with the beautiful fall colors.  But with fall, the weather seems to get cold pretty fast here.  It was pretty chilly today and I am not a cold weather gal!  Burrrr!

For today's Frugal Friday, I picked Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Grey Area.  Oh how I love colors like this.  It is a darker grey that has a hint of purple to it.  I asked my husband what he would describe the color as...he said "Umm, kind of purple, brown?"  Haha!  For the photos, I used two coats and topped with Seche Vite.  Application was very smooth!  Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes are often on sale at Walgreens two for $4.  I figured that price was low enough to qualify for Frugal Friday.

Also I have pictures below featuring bottle shots and on a nail wheel of Grey Area next to Essie Smokin' Hot.  I'm not sure that they are exact dupes but they are extremely close.

What do you think?  Dupes?  I think you definitely don't need both.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Pink Wednesday - Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello there!  This morning when I was checking up on the many blogs I follow, I noticed a lot of my favorite bloggers were doing Pink Wednesday for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I immediately loved this idea of raising awareness for breast cancer by wearing something I love so much...nail polish!!  Now I generally am not a huge fan of pink nail polish but I definitely have plenty.  It is not that I don't like pink nail polish, I just tend to not like it on myself.  I feel like it kind of gives me lobster hands.  (If you don't know what lobster hands are...it is when your skin looks pink/red based on the nail polish you are wearing.)  So, I decided to throw out the window that I am not a fan of pink and take this on, especially for the cause at hand.  I have said it before but I just LOVE the polish community!  A bunch of bloggers have come together to raise awareness.  How awesome is that??!!  This Pink Wednesday thing was initiated by Finger Painting Fingers.  Please click this link to find out more on how to participate.

Okay, so I pick an untried which is OPI Pedal Faster Suzi.  This is a really pretty pink with silver and pink shimmer in it.  I still feel like it made my hands look red though.  Let me know what you think and if you know of a pink that would maybe better suit my skin tone.  (or if I am just nuts!)

I wanted to add one thing.  I know life can be busy (trust me!) and we often forget to do things but please, do a monthly self-breast exam!  If you have a smart phone or even use Outlook on the computer, set a date every month to be reminded to do one.  This is one of the best things we can do for early intervention and it only takes minutes!

Thanks for stopping by and if you'd like to join in, feel free.

Please check out the others participating in this!

Frugal Friday! Sinful Colors Rainstorm

Ugh!!  I am having one of those weeks which is why this is my only post for the week!  My nails got kind of trashed when I was bartending last weekend.  They are doing much better with the exception of my pointer finger which is quite short.  I still wanted to do a Frugal Fridays post so here you have it.  I chose an untried which is Sinful Colors Rainstorm.  What a gorgeous blue this is!  I used two coats with one coat of NYC In a New York Minute's Grand Central Station (say that three times really fast!).  This polish was a little on the thick side but I am sure if I add a little thinner it would be much more to my liking.  It still applied nicely, I just had to be careful about how much was on my brush.

Have a good weekend everybody!  I bartend again but hopefully my nails don't take it too badly!

Frugal Friday: Sinful Colors Winterberry (plus comparison)

Happy Friday all!!  Here we are with another Frugal Friday post!  This is another Sinful Colors that I picked up during one of the 99 cent sales at Walgreen's.  I am always drawn to these sorts of colors...more on that a little later.

This is a beautiful dusty purple polish with some very fine silver shimmer in it.  It applied beautifully and I used two coats and topped with Seche Vite.  This is such a great color for fall.  From what I have researched online, this was released a while back and then was gone.  It has since come back and has been found in the Study In Style displays.  I hope you can still find it.

And in regards to what I said about me being drawn to this sort of color...I have some comparison swatches below of two other polishes in my collection that are close.

Indoors with flash

Outside, natural light

Outside, shade

Comparisons:  Sinful Winterberry, Revlon Naughty (previously released at Perplex and a Chanel Paradoxal dupe) and China Glaze Jungle Queen.  The Sinful has shimmer while the other two do not.  Jungle Queen and Naughty are closer to each other.  Jungle Queen is just a tad darker than Naughty.  I may be letting one of these go as I don't think I need both!

Have a good weekend everyone!

My First Guest Post!

I just wanted to let you know I did a guest post over at Mandy's Polish featuring Black Spotted.  I would love for you to head over there and check it out.  I love Mandy's blog and I am honored that I was able to do a guest post on her blog!

LE Maybelline Color Show - Downtown Brown (Picture Heavy)

Hey there!  I was at Bed, Bath and Beyond recently and they had a new display of various Maybelline products.  There were either 5 or 6 polishes in the display and they are Limited Edition.  I bought three of them which were Metal Icon, Pink Cosmo and Downtown Brown which is the one I am featuring here today.  I will try to get the other two up soon too.  If you are a fan of this, I recommend trying to find these soon since they are LE.

Regarding the one I am featuring here today which is Downtown Brown, it is perfect for fall!  It's a red toned brown with a green sort of duochrome.  If you are familiar with MAC's Club eyeshadow....it is pretty much that in a nail polish.  I actually applied this on Monday and it still looked good today as far as wear.  I loved it so much I don't want to take it off.  This is rare for me since I pretty much change my polish on a daily basis.  I am pretty impressed.

The formula of this was thin but it builds up nicely.  For the photos I used 3 coats but I think you could easily get away with 2.  I also used Seche Vite for a top coat.

Have a great day everyone!

Frugal Friday! Sally Girl Epic

Hello dolls!  Welcome to Frugal Friday!  Is it just me or is this week dragging!!!  I have for you today a Sally Girl polish which is sold at Sally Beauty Supply stores.  It is a mini bottle and it is only 99 cents!  I sort of wish they made these in a bigger size, but then again, I have yet to finish a bottle of nail polish before.  I actually had a very hard time photographing this one.  The picture below is actually with my iPhone.  The other pictures I took with my camera didn't even come close to color accurate.  Even this picture isn't color accurate but it's close!!  Capturing the right color is something I really like to try to do as it helps you determine if you like something or not.  I actually did a Google image search and I couldn't find an accurate picture there either otherwise I would link it.  This color might actually be a dupe to Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Pacific Blue.  Both frugal-worthy polishes!!

Next time you are at Sally's or even the drugstore, check out either this on or Pacific Blue.  If you are a blue lover like me and don't have either of these...what are you waiting for! :)

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Old Essie Find! Priceless

Hello there!  Earlier last week, I had stopped at the mall.  Whenever I stop at the mall, I usually make a stop at Trade Secret to see if they have any polish on sale or clearance.  When I was there, they had all OPI buy one get one 75% off which is a pretty decent deal.  But I noticed that had two shelves of random Essie polishes out.  Upon closer inspection, I saw that they were 50% off which meant $3.50 each.  There were a bunch of old boring neutrals but I saw some colors that I had not recognized ever seeing before.  When I picked some of them up that caught my eye, they had black labeled bottoms which meant they were on the older side.  There were three total that caught my eye but two particularly stood out.  Today's post is one of those two.  It is Essie Priceless.  From what I can tell, this is from a 2004 collection called Frozen Assets.  One of the others that I picked up is also from this collection.

Priceless is a nice rich brown with some beautiful silver micro shimmer.  It's gorgeous for fall and winter!

By the way, the sales associate told me they were on clearance as they will no longer be stocking Essie so you may want to check your Trade Secret and see if they have any hidden gems.  And if you find an extra Starry Starry Night or Greenport I would be happy to buy it from you! :)

Have you ever made some great finds like this?

Frugal Friday: Sinful Colors Slate

Well hello there!  I have been a little MIA lately.  My 4-year-old son started 4K this week and that has been a little bit of an adjustment, but a good one.  I just have to get a little more organized so I can get back to this whole blogging thing!

I have decided to do a series called "Frugal Fridays" where I feature a nail polish that I either got a really good deal on or that is normally inexpensive.

For my first installment of Frugal Fridays, I have chosen Sinful Colors Slate. I go this one for 99 cents when it was on sale at Walgreen's.  It is a medium gray with shimmer in it.  For the pictures below I used two coats.  The application on this one was just fine although it was pretty sheer with just the one coat.  It built up nicely though with two coats.

Let me know if you like this sort of series.  I had asked on my Facebook page and a handful of people seemed to like the idea.  I hope you have a good weekend!

Also, I encourage my fellow bloggers to join in on this series!

ABC Challenge: "Z"

Well my polish lovers, we are at the very end of the Alphabet Challenge.  I'd like to send a huge thank you to Gosia over at Life in Color for getting this challenge going!  I have had a lot of fun doing this one and it helped me explore my collection a bit and even gave me a nudge to try to be a little creative at times.  I really loved that with this challenge I also discovered some bloggers I wasn't familiar with.  I will definitely be keeping tabs on what these ladies are up to and who knows, maybe I'll jump into another challenge again soon!

While I am sad that this challenge has come to an end, I am looking forward to being able to show you some of the new polishes I have gotten in the meantime.  Keep your eye's open for that!

For the letter Z, I again only had one polish that started with a Z (unless you count the brand Zoya).  Ironically, the Z I have IS a Zoya and she is Zuza.  This is turquoise with silver shimmer and that sort of finish that Zoya seems to do so well that almost like a foil effect.  I have several polishes from Zoya with this sort of finish.  I honestly think between all my Zoya's there is not a single one with a bad formula!  If you haven't tried them yet, be sure to be a fan of their Facebook page and even start an account with them.  They run promos very often and you can usually get something like a BOGO deal.  Okay, enough rambling....

I hope you all enjoyed seeing the post of this challenge.  I know I really enjoyed it.

ABC Challenge: "Y" You Don't Know Jacques!

Hello my lovelies!  We are getting to the very end here on the Alphabet Challenge and I have really loved doing this!  It has really motivated me to blog and also allowed me to pick polishes that I normally wouldn't have.  I have to say, I was kind of happy there were only two letters this week.  I have just been having all kind of craziness going on!  I am getting my 4 year old ready for 4K and just trying to keep up with things.

I have lots of new polishes that I hope to be posting soon too!

For the letter "Y" this was easy as it was the only polish I had that started with a Y and it is a classic favorite, OPI You Don't Know Jacques.  I love this color and it is perfect for fall!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a good day!

ABC Challenge: "X"

So this is the letter I was dreading for the Alphabet Challenge.  I don't have any polishes that start with the letter X.  Is there such a thing even?  Then I thought, I'm going to take the easy way out.  I had picked an Xtreme (starts with X) Wear by Sally Hansen polish called Pink Satin.  Then, I thought..well heck...I could get out my striping tape and do an X on one of my nails!!!  For some reason I picked my middle finger to do this "accent" on.  Maybe subconsciously I was thinking...middle finger to you, letter X!!!

I gotta be honest, this is by far my finest work.  The color I put over my X was Essie No Place like Chrome and for whatever reason, it just didn't apply smoothly.  I have yet to try this polish on it's own but I doubt the formula is bad.  I do like the color combo but the actual outcome did not come out how I would have liked.

If I wasn't doing this challenge, I most likely wouldn't even post this.  I have many manicures that I've done that I intend to post but end up not doing so for reasons just like this!  I'm not big on editing my photos.  The most I do is crop and watermark.  So, here is is in all it's glory!

Second picture without flash.

Only two more letters left for next week.  Thanks for stopping by!
